The programme

Museo Arqueologico Nacional

Why was the National Archaeological Museum chosen?

Founded in 1967, this museum houses heritage elements representing the cultures that have lived on the Iberian Peninsula, the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands. It also exhibits treasures from other ancient cultures. This Museum, which is part of the Ministry of Culture, is an institution with great historical baggage which, at the same time, is at the cutting edge of new conservation and dissemination techniques.

What is Red Eléctrica’s connection with cultural heritage?

Red Eléctrica conducts archaeological surveys of the land and designs its infrastructure to avoid or minimise any potential impact when designing and constructing its facilities.

In this context, Red Eléctrica has undertaken over 300 actions to protect and conserve cultural heritage. We conduct archaeological and palaeontological surveys and controls, drilling and excavation, and activities to enhance heritage elements, as well as restoration and musealisation. We collaborate with administrations to facilitate the digitalisation and conservation of heritage.

We support the dissemination of the conservation of cultural heritage in the territory. In 2025, we contributed with the New Archaeological Findings Room of the MAN to disseminate the cultural heritage of other autonomous communities.

The Treasure of Pomares will be at the MAN from May to September.
