About hybridisation

A hybrid facility is an electricity generation facility that combines various technologies, provided that at least one of them uses a renewable primary energy source or incorporates storage facilities.

Red Eléctrica sets out in Operating Procedure 3.1 a classification of up to five types of hybrid facilities. Capacity data time series are now being published for the three types currently existing in the electricity system: renewable hybridisation, renewable hybridisation with storage, and renewable and non-renewable thermal hybridisation (i.e., consisting of renewable generation modules and non-renewable thermal generation modules). Users can also consult the information by primary generation or storage technology (wind, solar, batteries, and cogeneration), as was already possible via the respective Generation and Storage sections.

The capacity data time series begin with available data, broken down by electricity systems and autonomous communities, from June 2024.
