The Museo de las Ciencias de Castilla-La Mancha presents the competition "La Ruta del Quijote. Olimpiada entreREDes"

The Museo de las Ciencias de Castilla-La Mancha, with the collaboration of Red Eléctrica de España, has organised the first edition of “La Ruta del Quijote. Olimpiada entreREDes”competition aimed at regional secondary schools. The presentation ceremony, held this morning in the auditorium of the museum, was attended by the Provincial Delegate of the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha in Cuenca, Angel Tomás Godoy; the Director of the Science Museum, Santiago Langreo, and the Regional Delegate for Red Eléctrica de España, José Ignacio Fernández.

“La Ruta del Quijote. Olimpiada entreREDes” is a championship that is undertaken by teams. It will consist of a tour of the different sciences that can be found described in the texts of the novel ‘El ingenioso hidalgo don Quijote de la Mancha’ by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. The digital educational game “entreREDes” created by Red Eléctrica de España will test the skills and knowledge of secondary school students on the curricular contents in an entertaining way and, at the same time, will provide knowledge on how the Spanish electricity system works and the link between electricity and social progress.

Players will move around a map of Spain traveling along the main power lines and substations of the electricity transmission grid as they correctly answer questions on six different academic subjects.

With more than 8,500 questions and three playing modes, “entreREDes” is an effective educational resource for teachers in the classes; an enjoyable and engaging revision tool for students to use at home, and a way of having fun that can be shared with family or friends.

This edition of “La Ruta del Quijote. Olimpiada entreREDes” will be conducted in two phases, an initial qualification round in each educational centre from 7 November to 7 April, and a face-to-face final, in the Museo de las Ciencias de Castilla-La Mancha where the five teams selected from each level (2nd, 3rd and 4th of ESO), one from each province, on 18 May, coinciding with the International Museum Day.

The winners will receive their prizes at the closing ceremony of the competition that will be attended by personalities from the academic world, Red Eléctrica de España and the Science Museum, to be held in the auditorium of the museum in Cuenca.

The creation of the "entreREDes" game responds to Red Eléctrica’s commitment to the dissemination of knowledge regarding the electricity system and its overall operation, in order to provide society with information on the development of a sustainable energy model. In this regard, education is a priority objective.
