The demand for electrical energy increases 3.2% in August

The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of August was 20,812 GWh, an increase of 3.2% with respect to the same month last year. After factoring in the seasonal and working patterns, electrical energy demand grew 1.9% with regard to the figure for August 2014.

In the first eight months of the year, gross demand on the peninsula in this period was 167,837 GWh, a figure 3.3% higher than in the same period in 2014. After having factored in the influence of the seasonal and working patterns, electrical energy demand was 1.3% higher than that registered in the same period last year.

Using provisional data as at 31 August, production coming from wind power during August reached 3,284 GWh, a value 13.7% higher than that registered in the same month last year, and represented 15.2% of the total production.

In the month of August, generation coming from renewable energy sources reached 31.7% of production.

53% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
