Spearheaded by Red Eléctrica de España
The PERFILA Project, wins an award at the first edition of the EnerTIC Awards

The Platform of ICT Companies for the improvement of energy efficiency, EnerTIC, has today recognised the PERFILA project, spearheaded by Red Eléctrica de España, as the best initiative of 2013 in the SmartGrids category.

This project, which began in late 2012, is based on the development of a consumer panel made up of users that have smart meters installed and thus have hourly metering.

The data collected by these smart meters through the PERFILA project will be used to introduce improvements in the accuracy of hourly consumption profiles of households and small businesses. These profiles are used in the electricity system to estimate how hourly demand behaves, information that is necessary for the functioning of the market. A more precise definition of these profiles would result in less need for adjustment services in the operation of the system.

The EnerTIC Awards recognise innovation and good practice initiatives, both public and private, that provide improvements in energy efficiency through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

Following an assessment by experts from the EnerTIC member companies, the PERFILA project was selected as a finalist in its category in October, but it has been Internet users who, by their votes, have decided to elect them the winner of the SmartGrids category of the first edition of the EnerTIC Awards.

Red Eléctrica de España is spearheading this project that will culminate in 2015, and which includes the participation of the main electricity distribution companies: Endesa, Iberdrola, Unión Fenosa Distribución, EDP HC Energía, E.ON and the Asociación ASEME, along with Ministry of industry, Energy and Tourism.

This award by EnerTIC Awards recognises the good work of Red Eléctrica and of the main electricity distribution companies in Spain who maintain a major investment effort to put the Spanish electricity system at the forefront.
