The new period will end on 7 March 2019
The period for the presentation of observations regarding the El Fargue-Saleres electricity line and the Saleres substation in Granada is extended
  • Observations that contribute to enhancing the details of the line layout in a way that minimises its social or environmental impact can be incorporated into the project.

The Regional Government of Andalusia has today opened a new period for the public information and consultation process regarding the Red Eléctrica project for the construction of the 220 kilovolts El Fargue-Saleres electricity line, as well as the Saleres substation and two associated connection lines to the Gabias-Órgiva line and the Berja-Órgiva line. This new period will end on 7 March 2019.

This extension of the period is due to the desire of the regional administration and Red Eléctrica to collate a series of observations that neighbours and business owners by in the area didn’t express until recent dates once the initial period had already ended.

In this way, the observations that contribute to enhancing the details of the line layout in a way that minimises its social or environmental impact can be incorporated into the Red Eléctrica project.

These projects, which began their permitting process in March 2018, are included in the 2015-2020 Electricity Transmission Grid Development Planning drafted by the Ministry of Ecological Transition. As these are projects of general interest, they don’t require any municipal authorisation, and therefore the corresponding administrative authorisation regarding construction and environmental permits falls within the responsibilities of the regional administration.

This regulatory framework is perfectly compatible with the protection of municipal interests, by allowing the participation of municipalities in the authorisation process of the facilities through the publication of the projects in the corresponding official bulletins, as well as on the Regional Government of Andalusia Transparency website.

The design of the project has required four years of work by engineering and environmental experts with the aim of selecting a route for the line that is more aligned with the environment, both from the environmental and landscape point of view and service to neighbors, their comfort and their economic development.
