The Board of Directors of Red Eléctrica appoints two new external nominee directors
  • María Teresa Costa Campi and Antonio Gómez Expósito have extensive experience and a proven track record in the sector.

The Board of Directors of Red Eléctrica Corporación, at its meeting held today, has approved the appointment of Ms. María Teresa Costa Campi and Mr. Antonio Gómez Expósito as External Nominee Directors representing SEPI (the Spanish State Industrial Holding Company).

These two appointments, which must be ratified by the shareholders at the next General Meeting of Red Eléctrica Corporación, become part of the Board of Directors in replacement of Mr. Fernando Fernández Méndez de Andés and Mr. Santiago Lanzuela Marina, who have today tendered their resignations as board members.

María Teresa Costa Campi is Full Professor of Economics from the University of Barcelona and is Director of the Energy Sustainability Chair of the University of Barcelona. In addition, formerly she was the Chairwoman of the National Energy Commission between 2005 and 2011 and Chair of the Board of MIBEL (Iberian Electricity Market) between 2006 and 2007. She was also member of the board of ABERTIS until May 2018 and of EDP Renovables until her appointment as board member of Red Eléctrica Corporación.

On the other hand, Antonio Gómez Expósito is Full Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the University of Seville and has been a member of the Royal Academy of Sciences of Seville (Real Academia Sevillana de Ciencias) since 2013. In addition, he chairs the Electricity Systems Research Group of the University of Seville, one of the largest and most important nationally in this field, composed of more than twenty Ph.D.’s and five Full Professors.
