A total of 16 students from Colegio La Inmaculada and Colegio San Agustín in Ceuta won the regional final of the Entreredes Olympiad on 10 April. This victory will allow them to represent the Ciudad Autónoma in the national phase of the competition.

The session, held at the Estación de Ferrocarril Cultural Centre, concluded an edition that saw the participation of a total of 2,718 students from 7 educational centres in the Ciudad Autónoma, with the support of the Regional Ministry of Education, Culture and Youth of the Government of Ceuta. 

In the 1st year of ESO category, Colegio Inmaculada won with the team comprising students Carlos Villodres, Taysir Abdeselam, Jorge Sánchez, and Kauzar Mohamed. In the 2nd year of ESO, the winning team is made up of Claudia Alcázar, Raúl Carmona, Enrique Rodríguez, and Manuel Pastor. In the 3rd year of ESO, the winners were Pablo Carretero, Emma Granados, José María Navarro, and Javier García.

The winners in the 4th year of ESO belong to Colegio San Agustín, with the team consisting of Telma Sánchez, Pablo Partida, Menahen Bentata, and Victoria Raggio.

An educational game about the Spanish electricity system and the energy transition 

Entreredes is an educational project promoted by Red Eléctrica – the company responsible for transmitting electricity and operating the electricity system in Spain – with the aim of teaching young people how the Spanish electricity system and the energy transition work in an entertaining, dynamic, and engaging way. The initiative also seeks to spark young people's interest in energy, innovation, and technology, as well as their connection to the environment and social well-being, fostering vocations in STEAM disciplines and helping shape future energy-conscious citizens.

In the Entreredes Olympiad, the competitive part of the project, students play this video game in teams, allowing them to virtually travel across Spain through the lines and substations of the electricity transmission grid. To advance, players must correctly answer questions based on the syllabus taught throughout the school year (Geography and History; Physics and Chemistry/Biology; Mathematics; Language and Literature; and Leisure and Culture) and, in particular, on what they have learned about energy, the ecological transition, and the Spanish electricity system.

This is the fourth time that schools in Ceuta have participated in an edition of the Entreredes Olympiad. This year's winning students from Ceuta will face off against those from the autonomous communities in the national final of the Entreredes Olympiad, where they will compete to be crowned the most knowledgeable about Spain's electricity system and their school subjects.
