Red Eléctrica completes the final underground section of Mas Figueres-Palau line to boost industrial development in Vallès
The last stretch comprises one kilometre of underground line and was awaiting the urban development of an industrial estate to connect it to the Palau substation
The work took six months to complete and represented an investment of €7.15 million
Red Eléctrica, Redeia's subsidiary responsible for the transmission and operation of the electrical system in Spain, has completed the construction of the final section of the 220 kV line between the Mas Figueres and Palau substations, located in the town of Palau-solità i Plegamans in the Vallés region (Barcelona). The connection between the two substations will improve the electricity supply across the region as well as drive industrial development in the area, fostering economic growth and job creation.
The final stretch of this line, which was awaiting the urban development of an industrial estate in the town of Palau-solità i Plegamans, is one kilometre long and has been laid underground, avoiding the installation of overhead lines and their impact on the environment. The works, which took six months to complete, represent an investment of €7.15 million by Red Eléctrica. A portion of this budget was allocated to an ambitious environmental restoration plan, carried out by Red Eléctrica, which aims to double the forest area in the vicinity.
This is a vital project for the region, strengthening its industry and economy. The commissioning of this new infrastructure will significantly enhance the quality and security of the electricity supply to the towns of the Riera de Caldes, an area characterised by a strong industrial presence and a high demand for electricity.
This investment boost from Red Eléctrica will be crucial for attracting new economic and industrial activity, driving economic and social development in the area. In addition, it advances the goals of the ecological transition by contributing to the decarbonisation of industrial processes, services, and transport in the region through the electrification of energy uses that currently rely on fossil fuels.
