Fulfilling the Company’s commitment to the territory
Red Eléctrica dismantles the 132 kV line between Juià and Santa Llogaia, in Girona
  • A total of 64 towers will be dismantled between the municipalities of Cervià de Ter and Garrigàs.
  • The line has been integrated into the 400 kV line between Bescanó and Santa Llogaia.
  • The dismantling work will last approximately twelve months.

Red Eléctrica, a subsidiary of Redeia responsible for the transmission of electricity and the operation of the national electricity system, has started the work to dismantle the 132 kV line between Juià and Santa Llogaia, located in the province of Girona. The disassembly of the line, which in 2015 had already been integrated into the 400 kV axis between Bescanó and Santa Llogaia, is the result not only of agreements with the town councils of the municipalities affected by the works but also owing to the Company's commitment to the territories and preservation of the natural environment.

In total, 64 electricity towers will be taken down on a section of line that runs through the municipalities of Cervià de Ter, Viladesens, Saus, Camallera i Llampaies, Bàscara, Vilaür and Garrigàs. The works include the removal of the entire infrastructure and restoring the land to its original state.

It should be noted that, as part of the 400 kV project between Bescanó and Santa Llogaia, Red Eléctrica had already dismantled the 220 kV sections between Vic and Bescanó and between Bescanó and Juià, as well as the 110 kV section between Sant Hilari and Bescanó that ran parallel to the 400 kV line and that linked up to the cross-border connection with France.

The works, which have already begun, will last approximately twelve months and will not affect the electricity supply in the area, given that the line being dismantled was already integrated into the 400 kV axis ever since it was constructed, and the 132 kV line had been decommissioned. Prior to the commencement of the works, Red Eléctrica held meetings with all the town councils of the municipalities affected to inform them of the dismantling process.
