Commitment of European TSOs toward supporting Ukraine in the restoration of its power system
Commercial exchanges of electricity with Ukraine- Moldova to start on 30 June

Following extensive work by all Transmission System Operators (TSOs), and especially by Ukrenergo and the neighbouring TSOs, Continental Europe TSOs acknowledged on 27 June 2022 that the technical pre-conditions for allowing commercial exchanges on the interconnections with Ukraine are now implemented.

The start of commercial electricity exchanges with the Ukraine/Moldova power system is planned for 30 June on the interconnection between Ukraine and Romania. The electricity trading on the other interconnections (Ukraine-Slovakia, Ukraine-Hungary and Moldova-Romania) will follow later. The total trade capacity will be limited to 100 MW in the first phase and subject to daily coordinated security analysis. After this initial phase, the trade capacity is expected to increase gradually, following a monthly assessment by the TSOs of the impact of the exchanged volumes on the power system stability and security.

This important step, less than four months after the emergency synchronisation, demonstrates the strong commitment of European TSOs toward supporting Ukraine in the restoration of its power system. ENTSO-E would like to emphasise the excellent cooperation with the European Commission and the Energy Community in the process.
