The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of November was 19,834 GWh, an increase of 0.2% with respect to the same month last year. After factoring in the seasonal and working patterns, electrical energy demand on the peninsula grew 1.3% with regard to the figure for November 2014.
In the first eleven months of the year, gross demand on the peninsula was 226,992 GWh, a figure 2.1% higher than in the same period in 2014. After having factored in the influence of the seasonal and working patterns, electrical energy demand was 1.4% higher than that registered in the same period last year.
Using provisional data as at 30 November, production coming from wind power during November reached 3,708 GWh, a value 26.9% higher than that registered in the same month last year, and represented 18.9% of the total production.
A new all-time high for demand coverage, using wind energy generation, on the Spanish peninsula was reached at 4:50 am on 21 November when 70.4% of the peninsular electricity demand was covered using this generation technology. The new all-time high represents an increase of 2% over the previous all-time high of 68.4%, registered at 2:56 am on 25 December, 2013.
In the month of November, generation coming from renewable energy sources represented 34.4% of production.
52.5% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
