Demand for electrical energy remains unchanged in June

The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of June, after having factored in the seasonal and working patterns, remained unchanged with respect to the same month last year. Gross demand for the month was 19,510 GWh, a value 1.9% higher than the figure for June 2013.

In the first half of the year, and after having factored in the seasonal and working patterns, consumption was 0.1% higher than last year. The demand for electrical energy in this period stood at 120,965 GWh, 1.2% less than the same period in 2013.

Production coming from wind power during the month reached 3,275 GWh, 14.4% less than the same period last year, and represented 16.3% of the total production.

In the month of June, generation coming from renewable energy sources reached 38.4% of production.

53.6% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
