Demand for electrical energy falls 0.3% in April

The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of April, after having factored in the seasonal and working patterns, fell 0.3% with respect to the same month last year. Gross demand for the month was 18,608 GWh, a value 4.3% below the figure for April 2013.

In the first four months of the year, and after having factored in the seasonal and working patterns, consumption was 0.6% less than last year. The demand for electrical energy in this period stood at 81,770 GWh, 2.4% less than in the same period in 2013.

Production coming from wind power during the month reached 4,011 GWh, 8.8% less than the same period last year, and represented 20.5% of the total production.

In the month of April, generation coming from renewable energy sources reached 53.7% of production.

77.8% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
