The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of February, after having factored in the seasonal and working patterns, fell 0.6% with respect to the same month last year. Gross demand for the month was 20,271 GWh, a value 1.4% below the figure for February 2013.
In the first two months of the year, and after having factored in the seasonal and working patterns, consumption was 0.6% less than last year. The demand for electrical energy in this period stood at 42,316 GWh, 1.8% less than the same period in 2013.

In the month of February, generation coming from renewable energy sources set a new all-time record reaching 59% of production. The previous record was set at 54.2% in April 2013.
Production coming from wind power during the month reached 5,960 GWh, 11.6% higher than the same period last year, and represented 28.3% of the total production.
79.9% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
