Demand for electrical energy falls 1.5% in September

The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of September, after having factored in the seasonal and working patterns, fell 1.5% with respect to the same month last year. Gross demand was 19,672 GWh, 0.6% lower than September 2012.

In the first nine months of the year, and after having factored in the seasonal and working patterns, consumption was 2.4% less than last year. The demand for electrical energy in this period stood at 185,147 GWh, 2.9% less than the same period in 2012.

Production coming from wind power in September reached 3,271 GWh, 16.9% less than the same period last year, and represented 15.8% of the total production.

In the month of September, generation from renewable energy sources represented 32.5% of production.

53.5% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
