Demand for electrical energy fell 1.3% in September

In the month of September, electrical energy demand on the Spanish peninsula reached 21,952 GWh, representing a fall of 1.3% with respect to September 2010. Gross consumption, that is, without factoring the effects of seasonal and working patterns, showed a growth of 1.5%.

In the first nine months of 2011, electricity demand reached 192,840 GWh, which represents a decrease of 0.1% with respect to the same period in 2010. Gross demand between January and September this year was 1% down on that of last year.

In September, energy production obtained from renewable energy sources represented 22.8% of the total, 0.4 points more than in the same month in 2010. In the first nine months of the year, renewable generation represented 33.2%, slightly below the 35.7% registered in that same period 2010.

In the month of September 44.2% of the electricity production came from technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
