Demand for electrical energy drops 2.4% in August
The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of August, after having factored in the seasonal and working patterns, fell 2.4% with respect to the same month last year. Gross demand was 20,567 GWh, a value that is 4% lower than that registered in the same period in 2012.

In the first eight months of the year, after having factored in the seasonal and working patterns, consumption was 2.6% less than over the same period last year. The demand for electrical energy in this period stood at 165,337 GWh, 3.2% less than the same period in 2012.

Production coming from wind power in August reached 3,202 GWh, 17.7% more than the same period last year, and represented 16% of the total production.

In the month of August, generation from renewable energy sources represented 35.6% of production.

57.1% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
