The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of March is estimated at 20,739 GWh, 5.9% lower than that registered in the same month last year. After having factored in the influence of seasonal and working patterns, electrical energy demand fell by 4.5% compared to March 2018.
In the first quarter of 2019, the demand for electricity on the Spanish peninsula is estimated at 64,102 GWh, 2.8% less than in 2018. After factoring in the influence of seasonal and working patterns, demand for electricity is 2.1% less than in the same period last year.
With information available as at the time of this press release, wind energy generation in March reached 4,794 GWh, 37.3% lower than in the same period last year, and represented 24.2% of total production.
During the month of March and according to estimated data, generation coming from renewable energy sources represented 43.5% of the total production.
70.9% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
