  • The initiative, which together with other collaboration projects with the municipality, is encompassed within Red Eléctrica’s Corporate Responsibility Policy

Red Eléctrica de España has contributed to the construction of a rest area for motorhomes in Escatrón (Zaragoza). It is one of the initiatives that the Company is undertaking in the municipality as part of its Corporate Responsibility Policy.

For this reason, the Regional Delegate for Red Eléctrica de España in Aragón, José Ignacio Lallana, and the Mayor of Escatrón, Juan Abad, visited the new rest area, that is ready to be used, to which the Company has contributed 22,000 euros.

In addition to the parking area for motorhomes, the rest area is equipped with fresh water points for refilling tanks and discharge points for grey and black water waste, the main necessities of this type of vehicles that enables one to travel in close contact with nature.

The town of Escatrón and its surroundings are a very popular destination for those who opt for this type of tourism which is widespread across Europe and which is expanding its popularity in Spain, due to our country’s natural areas, heritage and especially nature sports, with fishing as the main attraction for sports fishermen from all across Europe.

This initiative, in addition to others supported by the Company in the town, such as the improvement and increase in accessibility to the sports pavilion carried out last year, is part of Red Eléctrica's Corporate Responsibility Policy, which includes support for general interest projects in those municipalities in which the Company’s facilities are located, such is the case of Escatrón. The Company is currently installing a new 220 kilovolt reactor unit in the Escatrón substation, an action that will involve an investment of 2.4 million euros and which, in addition to improving the behaviour of the electricity grid, will allow the integration of renewable energy from wind farms and photovoltaic power stations that are planned for the area.
