Red Eléctrica, the Redeia subsidiary responsible for the transmission and operation of the electricity system in Spain, signed an agreement this morning with the City Council of La Línea de la Concepción (Cádiz) for the construction of a Nature Interpretation Centre as part of the transformation currently underway in the municipality's Princesa Sofía Park.

This new centre, which receives financial backing from Red Eléctrica, will be used to organise environmental education activities and will house a permanent exhibition about the park itself, reinforcing its role as a space for conservation, awareness, and family enjoyment.

In addition, this agreement was signed alongside another with the Santa Margarita Homeowners' Association, through which Red Eléctrica will support the resurfacing of Avenida Circular and Los Altos Street within the residential estate.
The signing ceremony, which took place this morning in La Línea de la Concepción, was attended by the mayor of the municipality, Juan Franco; the president of the Santa Margarita Homeowners' Association, Antonio Falcón; and Redeia’s regional delegate in Andalucía, Jorge Jiménez. They signed the agreements under which Red Eléctrica will contribute a total of €500,000 to both projects.

Both agreements are framed within the Comprehensive Impact Strategy of Redeia, Red Eléctrica’s parent company. With this strategy, the company seeks to create a positive social and environmental impact in the regions where it operates, as is the case in the municipality of La Línea.

In La Línea itself, Red Eléctrica has carried out part of the construction of the submarine electricity link between the Peninsula and Ceuta, including an underground section of the power line for this strategically important national project. To avoid the impact of the works on the municipality, the route has been channelled through existing infrastructure and consolidated roads, running beneath pavements or existing carriageways, and requiring only the strictly necessary trenching.
