Discover what Red Eléctrica is, what we do, and why we are the backbone of the electricity system in Spain and the ecological transition.
Red Eléctrica begins construction of the new Costa de la Luz–Puebla de Guzmán electrical axis to drive mining developments in El Andévalo and reinforce supply on the coast
The project, with an investment of €27.7 million, spans the municipalities of Lepe, Cartaya, Villanueva de los Castillejos, El Almendro and Puebla de Guzmán, all in the province of Huelva.
The works also include the expansion of the 220 kV Puebla de Guzmán and 220 kV Costa de la Luz substations, featuring a smaller GIS enclosed within a building to ensure better integration into the surroundings.
Red Eléctrica, the Redeia subsidiary responsible for the transmission and operation of the electricity system in Spain, has begun construction of the new 200 kV Costa de la Luz–Puebla de Guzmán axis. This will help drive mining and industrial developments in the Iberian Pyrite Belt, located in the El Andévalo region in the north of the province of Huelva. It will also serve to reinforce the electricity supply for new business and residential projects on the Huelva coast.
The new electrical axis, which has already been granted public utility status, involves an investment of €27.7 million and consists of a 32.4-kilometre double-circuit overhead line. A 0.9-kilometre section of this line, at the Costa de la Luz substation end, will run underground. The route runs through the municipalities of Lepe, Cartaya, Villanueva de los Castillejos, El Almendro and Puebla de Guzmán, all in the province of Huelva.
This project also includes two new bays at the 220 kV Puebla de Guzmán substa-tion, corresponding to Costa de la Luz 1 and 2, as well as the expansion of the 220 kV Costa de la Luz substation using a smaller GIS (Gas Insulated Substation) en-closed within a building for better integration into the environment.
All these developments in the province of Huelva are included in the current elec-tricity planning cycle, which also features other recent projects of great strategic value for the industrial and economic development of Huelva. These include the 220 kV Condado substation in the municipality of La Palma del Condado, built with the aim of incorporating Huelva and its province into the high-speed rail map, as well as creating a logistics hub between southern Spain, Portugal and the rest of the peninsula. Furthermore, the current planning includes the Colón–Santiponce double-circuit power line, which is currently under construction.
