Red Eléctrica strengthens its commitment to the Álava Fire Service with pioneering wildfire‑fighting equipment
Red Eléctrica is strengthening its commitment to safety and innovation in the fight against wildfires in Álava by providing pioneering equipment for the province’s Fire Service, which will improve water availability during fires through a supply trailer.
Wildfires are often characterised by the difficulty fire engines have in accessing them and, in many cases, by the absence of nearby water points where helicopters can refill quickly. Aware of these circumstances, the Álava Fire Service, with the support of Red Eléctrica, has equipped itself with a new and pioneering supply trailer designed to bring water closer to wildfire incidents.
This is a portable supply trailer specifically designed to be deployed in a short period of time near wildfire sites. It includes a large 17,000‑litre portable pool from which helicopters can quickly collect water. In addition, it is equipped with more than 300 metres of hose and a high‑capacity pump.
As a result, the amount of water that a helicopter can drop on a wildfire is tripled, which on the one hand optimises helicopter use and, on the other, significantly improves operational efficiency.
