Red Eléctrica, Redeia’s subsidiary responsible for electricity transmission and system operation in Spain, will begin a major upgrade of the Entrerríos–Magallón 220 kV electricity transmission line in the coming months, following receipt of the Administrative Construction Authorisation from the Government of Aragón. This is a strategic project for regional economic growth and job creation, as it will enable the development of new industrial projects in the automotive sector in the Zaragoza area by ensuring an adequate electricity supply.

Red Eléctrica will invest around €2 million in this project, which is scheduled for the summer months. It will involve a complete refurbishment of the 27-kilometre line—commissioned in 1981—running through the municipalities of Magallón, Pedrola, and Agón, between the Entrerríos and Magallón substations, both located in the province of Zaragoza. 

This infrastructure is of strategic importance, as it supplies electricity to the Figueruelas industrial area, home to numerous factories in the automotive and mobility sectors. The upgrade will strengthen the electricity supply to the Entrerríos substation, which currently serves a major consumer in the area and will in the future supply significant industrial projects to be developed nearby. In addition, it will improve the integration of renewable energy generated by facilities in the surrounding area. 

The upgrade of the Entrerríos–Magallón 220 kV electricity transmission line forms part of the Modifications of Specific Aspects (MAPs) approved by the Council of Ministers under the current electricity Planning framework, binding for Red Eléctrica.
