Red Eléctrica to provide training in fire-fighting to more than 120 environmental agents and technicians in Castilla-La Mancha
- The Forest Fires and Power Lines Conference is part of Red Eléctrica's collaboration with the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha in this area
This week, Red Eléctrica, the Redeia subsidiary responsible for the transmission and operation of the electricity system in Spain, will deliver a training programme aimed at forestry technicians and environmental agents belonging to the INFOCAM unit of the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha on coordination and action in the event of fires that may affect high-voltage power lines.
For five days, one for each province in the autonomous community, attendees will learn from Red Eléctrica's line coordinators, installation managers, and environmental management technicians about essential aspects for their professional tasks.
Each course will last four hours, during which environmental agents and technicians from the regional administration will learn about identification of power lines and transmission grid supports; safety concepts, fire risks; types of incidents; prevention and extinguishing measures, as well as action and coordination protocols. The programme also includes an explanation of Red Eléctrica's tree-cutting plan and various innovative programmes to prevent fires, such as the VEGETA plan, among other environmental aspects, and a practical component in which a fire alert protocol drill will be conducted.
The sessions will be held on 17 November in Cuenca; 18 November in Guadalajara; 19 November in Albacete and Toledo; and on November 20 in Ciudad Real.
This initiative is part of a collaboration between Red Eléctrica and the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha, the authority responsible for forest fire prevention and fighting, through the INFOCAM device.
