- The programme of the Asociación España Creativa is held in towns along the Canal de Castilla and aims to bring art and culture to rural areas

Red Eléctrica is supporting the Asociación España Creativa and its ‘Agua, Arte y Vida’ Programme, held this week in Paredes de Nava (Palencia). The initiative includes a painting workshop and a travelling exhibition, as well as lectures, music and poetry recitals, among other activities.
The events began on Monday with a painting workshop led by Antonio López, Jorge Abbad, and José María Mezquita, featuring 55 painters from thirteen Spanish regions, as well as Argentina and Portugal. The masters are teaching in various spots around the town of Paredes de Nava, which lies along the Canal de Castilla, for the enjoyment of both locals and visitors.
The resulting artworks will be displayed at the Paredes de Nava Performing Arts Centre from this Friday until the end of September, before moving on to Herrera de Pisuerga and Alar del Rey.
The exhibition opens this Friday afternoon with the participation of painter Antonio López, and its inauguration will officially launch the 2nd ‘Agua, Arte y Vida’ Congress. That same afternoon, attendees will be able to enjoy a talk by the acclaimed painter, a piano recital by Óscar Lobete, and poetry readings by Sergio García.
The Congress will run throughout the weekend, bringing together scientists, artists, architects, cultural managers, public officials, and members of civil society to analyse and debate future challenges in water management, art as a driver of transformation, and innovation in nature conservation.
This initiative by the Asociación España Creativa, supported by Red Eléctrica, is held around the Canal de Castilla. The first edition took place in Medina de Rioseco (Valladolid), and after this year’s event in Palencia, it will continue in 2026 in Melgar de Fernamental (Burgos).
