For 40 years, we've been driving our country's economic and social progress. Four decades shaping Spain.
Red Eléctrica supports the construction of a waste collection and recycling point in Calatorao (Zaragoza)
Work on the new 220 kV Calatorao electrical substation —key to enabling the development of new technological and industrial projects in the province of Zaragoza— is progressing according to schedule.
Red Eléctrica, Redeia's subsidiary responsible for operating and managing the electricity transmission system in Spain, is supporting the construction of a waste collection and recycling centre in the town of Calatorao (Zaragoza). This initiative represents a clear step forward in terms of circularity and environmental protection in the municipality.
The project involves a medium-sized recycling point located on a 2,400-square-metre plot. This area will allow for the collection and proper environmental treatment of waste such as bulky items, rubble, furniture, batteries and lighting devices, used oils, paints, and electrical and electronic appliances. The facility will also include a customer service office and provide vehicle access to make it easier for residents to drop off materials.
The mayor of Calatorao, David Felipe, and Redeia’s delegate in Aragón, José Ignacio Lallana, have signed an agreement under which Red Eléctrica will support the construction and commissioning of the centre, which will require a €150,000 investment.
Through this collaboration, Red Eléctrica helps create a positive impact in the region where its infrastructure is located. In the case of Calatorao, the company is currently building —on schedule— a new 220 kV electrical substation. This infrastructure is essential to enabling the development of new technological and industrial projects in the province of Zaragoza by providing them with the necessary power supply. This, in turn, contributes to the growth of economic and industrial activity, as well as job creation, in the region.
In addition to the new substation, the project includes a 1.5 km double-circuit line, which will connect the substation to the transmission grid via the Jalón-Los Vientos 220 kV line. Red Eléctrica is to invest 8.8 million euros in the execution of these infrastructures, which will be completed in 2025. These infrastructures are part of the current Electricity Transmission Grid Planning, approved by the Council of Ministers and binding for Red Eléctrica.
