Red Eléctrica has completed the expansion of the Tafalla substation to enable the integration of new renewable energies in Navarra
Red Eléctrica has invested more than €690,000 in this upgrade to continue driving the ecological transition through the evacuation of new renewable energies.
Red Eléctrica, Redeia’s company responsible for electricity transmission and system operation in Spain, has completed works to upgrade the Tafalla electrical substation, aimed at facilitating the evacuation of new renewable energy projects in the region.
Red Eléctrica has invested more than €690,000 in upgrading this 220kV substation, featuring a new central circuit that will help maintain progress toward achieving the goals of the ecological transition.
With this development, Red Eléctrica will help to establish its leadership in Navarre in the transformation and decarbonisation of the system. In 2024, this region broke its own record for renewable energy production, achieving 67.5% of the total. Specifically, more than half of all energy generated in the region was wind energy, with a growth of 11.3% compared to 2023 to achieve its highest levels.
This project is included in the Electric Planning 2021-2026 proposed by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge and was approved by the central government after a process involving regional governments and sector stakeholders.
All the actions Red Eléctrica is carrying out in Navarre aim to improve the electricity system of the autonomous community, ensuring the quality and safety of the supply. Through these investments, the company promotes industrial development as a driver of the economy, while also focusing on integrating renewable energy and advancing the ecological transition.
