Red Eléctrica, Redeia’s subsidiary responsible for the operation and transmission of the electricity system in Spain, has completed the repowering of the 400 kV line between the substations of Catadau and Torrent. This initiative is part of a project to increase energy transmission capacity with regard to efficiency and reliability of supply.

The line’s route covers 27.9 km, while the works carried out optimise the use of pre-existing corridors, thus achieving greater performance.

Part of the line is located in the area affected by the DANA storm on 29 October. Despite the devastation it caused and following the recovery works that were completed in record time by Red Eléctrica, the repowering project has been executed as planned.

The increase in transmission capacity of this line is part of the repowering of the entire Catadau-Torrent-L'Eliana-Godelleta-Requena-Minglanilla axis, in accordance with the provisions of the current Electricity Transmission Grid Plan approved by the Council of Ministers and binding for Red Eléctrica.
