Depopulation is one of Spain’s greatest challenges, and providing solutions to the problem will be essential to move the country forward in a sustainable way, where every territory, however small, has the services and opportunities necessary for development. Rather than discard a portion of our country’s social, economic, human, cultural, and environmental capital, let us seal the territorial fracture and pave the way to an increasingly sustainable Spain.
Red Eléctrica accompanies the repopulation bus through rural Spain in an effort to weave a collaborative network between villages united in the fight against depopulation, while encouraging entrepreneurs to discover the world of opportunities existing in rural areas and implement their ideas and businesses.
The bus tour coincides with local events of cultural and social interest that reveal the unique characteristics of the area, as well as the projects that local innovators have implemented to ensure a brighter future for their region.
The bus, which travels under the slogan “Rural Pride” and serves as a travelling exhibition to promote social entrepreneurship in rural areas, has covered more than 7,000 km, making 26 stops between June and October in villages throughout low-density Spain to promote the National Fair to Repopulate Rural Spain.
