Red Eléctrica’s social programme mainly includes actions aimed at the socio-economic development of the territory; the conservation, protection and enhancement of the natural heritage of the municipalities; the dissemination of knowledge regarding how the electricity system works; and transparency in reporting.
Collaborations are formalised through the signing of agreements or collaboration agreements with the entity responsible for the project. The monitoring of the projects is done through a supervisory committee comprised of members of each of the signatory institutions; said committee is not only responsible for the planning and monitoring the actions, but also for the final assessment. The payment of the financial contribution established in the agreement is conditional upon the delivery of a final report justifying the activities carried out and the results obtained.
In 2017, the Company contributed 6.5 million euros for the development and promotion of social initiatives, amount obtained by applying the LBG (London Benchmarking Group). 59% of the activities were initiatives aligned with the business.
