Collaboration with local government for recovery and improvement of green spaces.
Red Eléctrica collaborates with local communities where its facilities are located through actions for conservation of their natural environment, with the aim of promoting sustainable rural development and biodiversity conservation.
Red Eléctrica collaborated with the Government of the Balearic Islands’ Ministry of the Environment, Agriculture and Fisheries in 2017 on an environmental dissemination campaign aimed at promoting good practices in anchoring at sea to avoid impacts to Posidonia oceanica and to undersea cables.
Forty-five thousand brochures in several languages were published and distributed in the ports on all the Balearic Islands, in the yacht clubs and in the island councils.
The purpose of this initiative was to remind boat users of anchoring standards and the importance of conserving posidonia seagrasses for the marine ecosystem.
An initiative was also carried out with Formentera Island Council to promote sustainable tourism and protect the Posidonia oceanica meadows by patronage of areas of this plant by the square metre around the island.
