Demand for electrical energy increases 0.1% in July

The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of July, after having factored in the seasonal and working patterns, grew 0.1% with respect to the same month last year. Gross demand for the month was 21,104 GWh, a value 2.5% below the figure for July 2013.

In the first seven months of the year, and after having factored in the seasonal and working patterns, consumption was 0.1% higher than last year. The demand for electrical energy in this period stood at 142,203 GWh, 1.3% less than the same period in 2013.

Production coming from wind power during the month reached 3,659 GWh, 28.7% up on the same period last year, and represented 16.8% of the total production.

In the month of July, generation coming from renewable energy sources reached 37.6% of production.

55.3% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
