Renewable energy production reached 45% this month
Demand for electrical energy grew 8.9% in March

The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula was 22,695 GWh in the month of March, representing an increase of 8.9% with respect to the same month last year. Factoring in the effects of seasonal and working patterns, the adjusted demand grew 4.5%.

In the first quarter of the year, electricity consumption reached 68,116 GWh, a 4.6% increase on the same period last year. Adjusting the figure to take into account seasonal and working patterns, the demand for this period increased 2.9%.

During the month of March, the generation obtained from renewable sources, including hydroelectric, solar and wind power, accounted for 45.1% of the total production, the latter contributing 18.7%.
