On this very day, 30 years ago, Red Eléctrica de España was established and along with it the world pioneering model for electricity system management: the TSO model (Transmission System Operator), which integrates transmission activities and electricity system operation. At present, Red Eléctrica is responsible for the transmission of electricity through its network of more than 42,000 kilometres of lines and manages the operation of the electricity system.
