The total tonnes of CO2 emissions associated to electricity generation on the Iberian Peninsula was reduced by 23.1% in 2013 compared to the total for 2012, according to Red Eléctrica’s 'Spanish Electricity System Preliminary Report'. In total, 61.4 million tonnes of CO2 associated to the production of electricity were emitted into the atmosphere.
