The La Serna-Magallón 400 kV electricity transmission line has obtained a favourable environmental impact statement from the Directorate-General for Energy Policy and Mines of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO). 

The favourable environmental impact statement confirms that the infrastructure's design meets all environmental requirements and is respectful of the surrounding environment. Achieving this key milestone represents significant progress in the administrative processing and for the future development of this infrastructure, which is essential for electricity supply in the Ebro Valley and for consolidating Navarra and Aragón as leaders in the energy transition and the integration of renewables.

Red Eléctrica plans to invest €25.6 million in this 400 kV double-circuit power link, which will connect the La Serna electrical substation in Tudela (Navarra) and the Magallón substation in Zaragoza (Aragón). Both substations will be expanded with two new bays each as part of the project. At 43.2 km in length, the line will run through the municipalities of Tudela, Marchante, Cascante, Ablitas, Ribaforada and Cortes, in the Chartered Community of Navarra, and Mallén, Fréscano, Bisimbre and Magallón, in Aragón. 

This route is included in the Electricity Transmission Grid Planning 2021-2026, which is binding for Red Eléctrica.
