Demand for electrical energy increases 7% in February

 

The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of February is estimated at 21,305 GWh, a value 7% up on than that registered in the same month last year. After factoring in the seasonal and working patterns, electrical energy demand on the peninsula increased 3.7% compared to February 2017.

In the first two months of the year, the demand for electricity on the Spanish Peninsula is estimated at 43,946 GWh, a value 2.1% higher than in the same period in 2017. After factoring in the seasonal and working patterns, demand for electricity increased 0.6% compared to the previous year.

 

In February, generation coming from wind power reached 4,626 GWh, a value 4.7% higher than that registered in the same month last year, and represented 22.5% of total production.

In the month of February, using data available as at 28 February, it is estimated that 38.8% of total production came from renewable energy sources.

62.3% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
