The presence of Red Eléctrica in domestic and international organisations is intended to help draw up proposals regarding legislation, tertiary control, regulation and operational criteria regarding the operation of grids and electricity systems, especially within the European Union sphere.
ENTSO-E (European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity)
This association, of which Red Eléctrica is one of the founding members, was created on 19 December 2008, in advance of the indications included in the Third Internal Energy Market package, and in particular Regulation 714/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 July 2009, relative to the conditions for access to the grid for the cross-border trade of electricity, regarding the obligation of all the European TSOs to cooperate at the European community level by means of the creation of a European grid of TSOs. ENTSO-E inherited all the experience and good practices from ETSO (European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity) and UCTE (the Union for the Coordination of Transmission of Electricity) which were disbanded in July 2010.
CIGRE (International Council on Large Electric Systems)
This organization brings together electric companies, capital equipment manufacturers, engineering and research centres from all over the world, for the purpose of exchanging technical knowledge. Red Eléctrica currently holds the presidency and secretariat of the Spanish Committee.

Group of US electric companies and affiliated international companies. Red Eléctrica participates in financial conferences targeted towards analysts and investors of the sector.
IESOE (Electricity Interconnection in South-Western Europe)
This organisation is comprised of RTE (France), REN (Portugal), ONE (Morocco) and Red Eléctrica (Spain). Its purpose is to analyse the performance of the electricity interconnection grid between these countries and to draft initiatives to perfect their operation. Red Eléctrica currently holds the secretariat of this organisation.
OME (Mediterranean Energy Observatory)
Organisation founded in 1991 by approximately 30 energy companies in the electricity, gas and oil sectors. Its objectives are to foster the collaboration between the main companies of the electricity sector which operate in the South Mediterranean basin countries and to promote dialogue between governments, the European Commission and other international organisations regarding electricity matters in the Mediterranean.
TSO-International Comparison
International association of electricity transmission system operators spanning Europe, Asia, South Africa, as well as South and North America. Its mission is to exchange information on the current and future operating practices regarding electricity systems with the objective of establishing benchmarks and performance measures.
VLPGO (Very Large Power Grid Operators)
An international initiative which groups the 13 major operators of the world's largest electricity systems, which together represent more than 60% of the electricity demand in the world. Red Eléctrica held the position of President until October 2010 and as of that date has held the position of Vice-President.
