Red Eléctrica was included on the new FTSE4Good IBEX index, the first Spanish corporate responsibility index which was launched on 9 April 2008. This index, created on a joint basis by the FTSE Group and Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME), constitutes a new indicator for socially responsible investments. It registers those Spanish companies listed on the BME operating markets with socially responsible business practices (values belonging to the BME IBEX 35 index and to the FTSE Spain All Cap index).
So far only 27 companies fulfill the FTSE4Good criteria and therefore have been included on the index. Red Eléctrica has been included owing to its being a company that works to ensure environmental sustainability, to develop positive relationships with the company's interest groups and to support and preserve universal human rights.
