In September 2009 Red Eléctrica Corporación was selected for inclusion in the Ethibel Excellence Investment Register, one of the leading European indexes in the field of social responsible investments (SRI). The Ethibel Excellence Index, established in 2002, is currently comprised of 176 best-in-class companies as pertains to sustainability at a worldwide level. Vigeo, one of the leading agencies in Europe for measuring social responsibility, is responsible for evaluating the sustainable development and corporate responsibility of the companies included in this index. This agency evaluates and measures the following aspects: economic, environmental, human rights, corporate governance and community implication.
The inclusion of Red Eléctrica in the Ethibel Index re-affirms the leadership of the company within the scope of sustainable development and demonstrates that it has become an international business model that has achieved responsible business practices.
