Red Eléctrica's ethical code is one of the main factors as far as handling the company's corporate responsibility is concerned.

On the one hand, the ethical code is the corner stone as regards developing the corporate values which the company is endeavoring to instill among its personnel and, on the other hand, it explicitly lays down the models and standards of conduct to be followed by everyone involved. An exemplary attitude when faced with situations in which the company's image of integrity and ethical standing might be in question will have the effect of further consolidating its unblemished reputation and of projecting an exemplary image before the sector and society in general.

Red Eléctrica has appointed an "ethics manager" in order to deal with any doubts that might arise and to receive, analyze and solve any claims that might come in. The person appointed is Rafael García de Diego Barber, head of Legal Consulting at Red Eléctrica. In discharging this post, which involves a direct relationship with the Chairman or the Board of Directors, he will maintain the confidentiality of the processes as well as being in charge of the development, consolidation and ongoing improvement of ethics management at Red Eléctrica.

The company will place at the disposal of its interest groups a form for any possible consultations or suggestions they might wish to make. It will also provide another form for submitting any claims they might wish to make as a result of conduct incompatible with the code on the part of any of its employees, departments or with regard to the company as a whole.

It is most important that claims not be made if there is no clear evidence of failure to comply with any or several of the principles contained in the code. Personal moral integrity is a fundamental right and people's rights and reputations should not be impaired or placed in doubt gratuitously. Therefore, in the event of any uncertainty, the first channel to be explored before making a claim is that deriving from the relationship between the interest group and the person in charge at the company.
