Red Eléctrica Internacional is currently present in the Bolivian company "Transportadora de Electricidad, S.A. (TDE) Open in a new window", in which it holds a 99.94% stake of the share capital, and the Peruvian company "Red Eléctrica del Sur, S.A. (REDESUR) Open in a new window", in which it controls 33.75%. In addition, in July 2010 Red Eléctrica Internacional established, along with AC Capitales SAFI, S.A., the company "Transmisora Eléctrica del Sur, S.A.", in which it holds a 55% stake of the share capital. The activity of this company is the construction, operation and maintenance of electricity grids and electricity transmission in Peru.

In 2002, Red Eléctrica Internacional acquired 99.94% of the shares of the Bolivian company (TDE), owner and operator of Bolivia's National Grid [Sistema Interconectado Nacional (SIN)], which caters to 85% of the domestic market. It has an ongoing licence and operates approximately 2,000 km of lines as well as 19 substations. This acquisition represented a major increase in the Group's international expansion, strengthening the Group's position in the Andean area, where it already had a stake in the Peruvian company Red Eléctrica del Sur, S.A. (REDESUR).

In 1999, REDESUR, the consortium led by Red Eléctrica, was awarded a private sector concession contract for the strengthening of the electricity transmission systems of Southern Peru. The type of contract is what is known as a BOOT-type contract (Build-Own-Operate-Transfer) with a term of 32 years - 2 years of construction plus 30 years of operation of the resulting system. Red Eléctrica is the leader and carries out the functions of strategic operator of the concession.
