The system of regulatory management applied at Red Eléctrica possesses a series of characteristics which are collated under the "The Ten Key Principles regarding regulatory management Excellence"

The internal regulation of Red Eléctrica is associated with the processes and activities of the organisation with the aim of facilitating that they are carried out with the forecasted quality and in the established stages.

The regulatory documents establish what needs to be done, when, how, where and by what means. They also define the parties responsible for their drawing up, execution and improvement, in order to ensure that the process is adjusted to customer requirements with the necessary level of effectiveness.

Regulatory development is structured conceptually, based on a pyramid, which is composed of four levels:

The first level consists of the "Policies".

Next, in the second level are the "Basic manuals", the "Specific manuals" and the "Action guides".

In the next level are the "General procedures" and "Technical procedures" and the final level contains the "Technical instructions" and "Technical specifications".
