European Excellence seal + 500 points

In 2011 Red Eléctrica has had the European Seal of Excellence + 500 renewed. In the latest evaluation, Red Eléctrica was assessed by a panel of evaluators from the EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management), owing to the fact that it decided to present its candidacy to the European Award for Business Excellence EFQM 2011, and it again exceeded 600 points. The candidacy of Red Eléctrica for this award has resulted in obtaining an award in the category "Taking Responsibility for a Sustainable Future".

Red Eléctrica set out on the road to business excellence in 1999 with the adoption of the European model; EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) [ www.efqm.org Open in new window ]. In 2003, it became the first Spanish electricity company to obtain the European Seal of Excellence + 500 points, granted by the "Club Excelencia en Gestión" [ www.clubexcelencia.org Open in new window ], in accordance with the directives of said model. In 2005, 2007 and 2009 Red Eléctrica also had this recognition renewed.

In line with its firm backing for management excellence, in 2007 Red Eléctrica also renewed the quality seal, "Madrid Excelente", obtained in 2002. The "Madrid Excelente" seal is a quality model based on the EFQM European business excellence model.

In 2005 Red Eléctrica obtained the Príncipe Felipe Award for Business Excellence in the Industrial Quality category. This award, granted by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, has become the most prestigious award for Business excellence in Spain.

This quest for business excellence is additionally compounded by the external certifications and accreditations regarding business management systems.
