Policies: These contain the general guidelines, either at corporate level or related to a technical area. They are drawn up with the goal of fulfilling the vision and corporate strategy in that particular area. The procedures and the remained of the associated regulations depend on the policies.
The policies are followed by:
Basic Manual: These are documents which regulate areas of action related to corporate aspects. They must be observed and applied in the development of any regulation which affects the organisation.
Specific Manuals: Due to their characteristics, these are drafted to establish the systems or methods associated to specific area of action.
Action Guides: These documents define or provide criteria, guidelines or information in order to facilitate the development of activities, the preparation of reports or documents or the design and definition of processes which, due to their nature, can be carried out in a number of different ways.
The policies and action guides are followed by: general procedures and technical procedures.
General procedures: These are standards which regulate generic or corporate processes. They describe the goals, the scope, the responsibilities and the activities of which they are composed.
Technical Procedures: These regulate processes involving a limited number of company units and therefore their scope is more restricted.
General procedures are followed by: technical instructions and technical specifications.
Technical instructions are followed by: technical specifications.
Technical instructions: These provide a detailed description of some or all the activities in a particular process. Their purpose is to explain the methods and systems for executing the tasks and functions to the technical staff or other Company employees.
Technical specifications: These provide a detailed description of the technical terms & conditions and requirements for repetitive orders of goods and services from outside suppliers.
