Red Eléctrica designs and implements its own certifiable management systems for all its general activities. It then seeks recognition of these by certification authorities that are established in international circles.
The management systems that have been certified are as follows:

Red Eléctrica has implemented a quality management system that was certified by AENOR in accordance with the UNE-EN ISO 9001: 2000 standard in December 2001.
Red Eléctrica was the first company in the Spanish electricity sector to obtain this certificate for all its business activities.

Red Eléctrica has implemented an environment management system that was certified by AENOR in accordance with UNE-EN ISO 14001 standard, in May 1999.
This system was also certified by AENOR in accordance with European Regulation 761/2001, in October 2001. This was done at the time the company joined the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS). It was the first company to be included in the EMAS register by the Ministry of the Environment.

Red Eléctrica has implemented an occupational health and safety administration system, which has been certified under the OHSAS 18001:1999 International Standard by AENOR.
Red Eléctrica efforts aimed to prevent labour risks are vouched for by the OHSAS (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) Compliance Certificate, that clearly evidences the Utility applies, on a continuous basis, the latest and more demanding occupational safety and prevention criteria, which exceed by far the current legal requirements, stated in Red Eléctrica's Occupational Health and Safety Policy. Red Eléctrica is the first Spanish utility which has certified its System for Management of Occupational Risks Prevention.

In 2005, Red Eléctrica has been awarded, too, by Social Accountability International, the SA8000 certification. This standard is intended to improve the overall working conditions and ensure that all basic labour rights are duly met. This award strengthens Red Eléctrica commitment to labour rights support and compliance as stated in the basic principles of its corporate responsability policy.
