Red Eléctrica maintains an Environmental Management System, whose certification by AENOR was obtained in May 1999 in accordance with the requirements laid down in the UNE-EN ISO 14.001 standard.
Red Eléctrica also received, in October 2001, the resolution of membership of the EC Environmental Management and Auditing System (EMAS), being the first company included in the EMAS register by the Ministry of the Environment.
In 2004, Red Eléctrica became the first business group in the energy sector to obtain the environmental certification for all of its electricity transport activities and installations (activities and facilities located in Spain, Bolivia and Peru).
The Environmental Management System is a management tool that makes it possible to identify, evaluate and control at all times the environmental aspects of the company's various activities with possible effects on the environment.
The ultimate goal is the efficient performance of the business activity, with full integration between economy, ecology and society in keeping with the principles defined in the environmental policy.
