"CONTROLA, electrical control simulator" is an interactive game in which students of Compulsory Secondary Education adopt the role of operators of the Control Centre of the Spanish electrical system (CECOEL).
In a humorous and entertaining manner, the players' mission consists in maintaining the electrical supply in the face of a variety of incidents: abrupt changes of temperature, a significant increase or decrease of industrial activity, the demand at various moments of the day or seasons of the year, the request for supply from neighbouring countries, and so on.
By means of an instantaneous regulation system, the players must control the quantity of electrical energy supplied by various production plants (thermal, nuclear, wind and hydroelectric) to respond to the consumption of urban and industrial centres.
