Supplier Code of Conduct

The objective of Red Eléctrica's Supplier Code of Conduct is to make its suppliers fully aware of the general principles that need to be observed while carrying out their work and professional activity within their different scopes of action.

This code is aimed at all those suppliers that provide goods and/or services to Red Eléctrica, which makes it essential that suppliers understand and fully comply with it in the contracts entered into with Red Eléctrica.

Eléctrica will monitor and ensure the continued application of these principles by the suppliers. The principles of conduct contained within this Code are structured within three main areas: the supplier's relationship with its employees and contractors, with Red Eléctrica and with the environment.

This Code became effective as of 1 January 2013 and from that moment it became part of Red Eléctrica’s General Conditions of Contract The acceptance of the Code entails that the supplier accepts the possibility of being audited by Red Eléctrica to verify its compliance.

Social audits

Red Eléctrica conducts social audits not only in order to verify the correct compliance with the Supplier Code of Conduct among our suppliers, but also to transfer the principles of responsibility of the Company to its suppliers.

Red Eléctrica annually establishes a Plan of Social Audits whose objective is to audit providers of those supplies with potential or actual significant impact on working conditions and ethical behaviour or, when the Company has evidence, through the communication channels open to suppliers, of some indication that a supplier is acting incorrectly. As a result of these audits, improvements or action plans are agreed with the suppliers. The monitoring of these plans allows Red Eléctrica to measure the evolution and verify the improvements implemented.

75 audits were performed on suppliers who provide goods that have a high impact on working conditions and ethical behaviour.

Red Eléctrica makes various communication channels available to its suppliers to facilitate and improve the relation:

  • ASA (Procurement Help Desk): manages enquiries, doubts and claims from suppliers regarding with the procurement processes, as well as clarifications regarding the content of the Supplier Code of Conduct.
  • DÍGAME service: manages enquiries and claims from any external stakeholder.
  • Ethics Manager: If the previous communication channels have been exhausted, the supplier can go to the Ethics Manager who collates and manages, in a confidential manner, grievances and non-compliance reports concerning the principles of the Supplier Code of Conduct. The possible non-compliance of this Code should be directed to the Ethics Manager through the specific form designed for this purpose.
